One For Yv

“You can spot them by their actions, for the fruits of their character will be obvious. You won’t find sweet grapes hanging on a thorn bush, and you’ll never pick good fruit from a tumbleweed.”— Matthew 7:16 (TPT)

My beautiful wife, Yvonne, went home to be with Jesus on October 27th. I find comfort in the many messages from people across the world who were so deeply impacted by my girl. Yvonne was a true influencer; she deposited wisdom into so many lives, and her presence left a lasting mark.

I admired Yvonne and the way she pursued God was truly inspiring. She was mighty in her faith, and was unlike anyone I had ever known. When I met Yvonne, she was a strong believer, and at the time, I didn't hold a high opinion of Christians. But the way she presented Jesus to me, it was different than what I had been preached, it was simple. My life was forever changed for the better because of her. People were naturally drawn to her and the way she lived her faith. She was a truth-teller.

This verse perfectly encapsulates Yvonne: She nurtured lasting fruit, and those she impacted continue to reap the benefits. I’ve received messages from dear friends, from those who met her only briefly, and from followers of our ministry with whom she corresponded. Her influence was truly universal.

I also think of our children and grandchildren; they are the fruit of her life, and they continue to carry her legacy. I see so much of Yvonne in each of our children and their unique gifts. Liam has been my guiding helmsman through these uncharted waters. Rory embodies hospitality, just like his mom. Maisie has been a true comfort to me, much like her mother. And Aidan, our minstrel, is helping create a bridge over troubled waters.

Thank you all for your prayers for me and our family, it means the world.
